    The lake was clear yesterday

Fished from 5 til 7:30 pm....they are dumping massive amounts of water again for the weekend ....we must be under hurricane warnings for the next couple weeks....idiots!

Water is beautiful...no ice anywhere...water is normal color and clarity....it was calm as glass.
No Gators were harmed, caught 1 dink crappie and 2 nice WB on regular setup and gummy color swimmer.
Am working on a new technique for deep water Gators with a Weedless SUPER tungsten 1/2OZ Football head....it didn't do me any good today throwing it for 1.5 hrs!lol

Washed my hands in the water AND IT IS COLD!
Please be careful, if you fall in, you are dead quickly.

No dead shad anywhere....I went around to 3 different areas and I did not see a single dead fish.
I'll be out tomorrow late after the rocks warm up.

    Good Fishing
    Brent

Took the boat over late this afternoon. Depth finder showed water temps between 41 and 43 degrees. Did not fish much just messed with new Hummnbird.

    Thanks for the temp...I wondered.

Guys, this is Perfect temps for gorging Gators or Kitties....Smallies will be moving, and the WB are waking up!
Crappie are still deep and sluggish, unless you catch them in the warmer North End...Largemouth are chillin' looking for heat!
    Good Fishing!

This is what I talk about, when I mention fishermen don't make good decisions!

This is our friends 15 acre Bass Pond...it had not been fished for 20 years, when we got on it.
It has Largemouth, and Bluegill, and minnows....that's it!
Pat and I are the only ones who fish it, and have been taking care of it!
Bass population and size is just incredible....all you see cruising the surface is small gills and minnows....last year we caught, plate sized Bull Gills, on swimmers.
We caught so many huge Bass that your thumbs and fingers were bloody and your arms and chest hurt from lifting them out of the water.

We use a John boat with a trolling motor to get around.

And yesterday we were dumb fishermen!
The only good thing is that Pat and I enjoy whenever we go out and fish together, it is nothing but Pure Fun, laughing, joking, and having a good time!
I'm seriously glad we have that, cause we sure did not think about what we were doing!

The open end of the lake is the North and West end....Wind was gusting from the WNW at 25 plus....normally corn is helping to block the wind from this direction....nothing but bare fields now.
The lake is sheltered from the SW, South, and East, so it thaws slow, and doesn't overheat in summer....it had some surface ice still in the shaded weeds.
As soon as we pulled up at 5 pm, we saw the whitecaps, etc, and knew we screwed up!
But we fished until almost Sun-down....without a bite.
We knew better, but we thought, we could out-think Natural patterns! Yep, we tried to rush things....but, we had fun and laughed at ourselves....especially since we were in BASS HEAVEN, and didn't get a bite!
This "Pond" is 5 to 15 feet deep, loaded with pads, cattails, underwater weeds, cover, etc...probably the nicest pond I have ever fished....it's made for fish and tough for fishermen....just the way it's supposed to be.

No matter what, have fun, and Good Fishing!

Two of our own, Doc (Lange) and Daniel (Danvan), placed 2nd at Rocky Fork yesterday out of 22 boats, they missed 1st by 8 ozs. Daniel caught the large fish (last pic). The first 2 pics are from pre-fishing, last 2 from yesterday.
CONGRATS GUYS....WAY TO START OUT YOUR YEAR!
