There's a thread on the cover forum...they would cost over 40 bucks each, without the weight system, unless you could get all the parts for free...and very bulky....BUT THEY ARE SWEET AND WOULD REALLY WORK.

I learned to always think about what I can use for cover, before I pitch it!
Before we first started our projects, I had hundreds of milk crates for moving, storage, etc...I gave them all away to a buddy...luckily he was a "Horder" and kept them all.
When I figured out how to make "Crate Stacks", I got all mine back plus about 800 more!
Those Crate Stacks are probably the best cover, I have ever built and used...they Provide a BIG profile, you can fill the bottom with 10 hole bricks for craws and all the others with wood. They are next to impossible to find in a Rocky or stumpy underwater area, and are cheap and easy to build, and easy to sink by yourself.

Like you, I will soon be looking for Black Pipe also!

    Fritz, see you Saturday!

I need to make some cover for my grandpa's 2 acre farm pond and this is a great idea. I've got a CTree and weight out on the ice now but a few of these stacked 3 or 4 high wold be excellent. How did you attach them together? Seems like zip ties would be the best bet.

Flannel...I used 250lb zips/tie straps for CJ....no way they are coming apart or being moved!
You could Probably get away with cheaper straps, since it is your families pond...I just wanted to make sure they would be at CJ forever!
These things are sweet...they provide hiding places for anything, and Big ol' ambush spots for big fish...I put a bunch together for Crappie, and spread them out for Bass and Walleye. Shallow water ones were 3 high, deeper ones were 4 to 5 high...on the 4-5 high I completely filled the bottom crate with bricks and it took a couple guys to lift the entire thing.
The sink perfect and will bury into the bottom...if the are around rocks they blend right in, ask Doc...they give off a return on side and down, just like a rock...no one has been able to correctly identify, the more than 300 that were added to CJ....yet!
