The Sight Flash is not actually White...this time he added the powdered squid scent to them and they really look like a shrimp color!
    I can't wait for the 2.8 flappers...they will be my 2nd "Go-To" Crappie bait.
The packaging just reached a new high to keep these things perfect...to get gull action you have to gently separate the flappers....so it also allows varied degrees of action.

    Bottom line THOSE ARE SICK!!!!

I got the parts ordered for some of the rigs i'll get ya as soon as I get the split rings. Also making some of my no snag weights for them so you can give them a try also Brent.

Hey Jess...these remind me of the Salty Core Tubes, they are not as heavy, but I think they will work well without weight also....just adding a Trokar gives mad action and that drop without weight just torments fish!

I almost forgot since we moved....for those of you wanting something to read during this Cabin fever period, there is a FREE online Crappie Magazine.

    www.crappieonline.com

Even though I don't fish like these guys, or like their "style" of fishing, or lure choices....you can still get some good ideas, or basic behaviors, and patterns of Crappie, to help your learning process. You take the key ideas that work in your situation, and integrate that knowledge into your system, to benefit your style.
Ron Capps has some good thoughts about fishing for Crappie that I also share...basically he says, no matter what the weather, you can catch fish, if you understand what they are doing....you also need to slow down to a crawl during this time of the year, etc.

You also have to remember that sometimes IN CERTAIN ARTICLES they are talking about tournament fishing, this means that they are SEARCHING for QUALITY over Quantity...where you normally would be thrilled with a limit of 11 inchers and catching 200 fish, they may only be looking for EIGHT 3 pounders all day.

If you have any questions, just throw them out and we'll see if we can help!

These temps dropped pretty rapidly. Do you think it will cause a shad kill?

I doubt it Shag...our shad have not been reacting to weather like they're suppose to, I can only assume they are evolving or hiding in new areas where the changes are not affecting them like they use to. Remember 40 degrees is suppose to kill them off, and we're not seeing any MAJOR kills when water is froze with 18 inches of ice, or no ice at all with quick warmups and cool downs.
Also remember that on the bottom in deeper water, it still can be 39 degrees...plus you have areas of Springs that will raise the temps a couple degrees, so something has happened to help them survive.
Last year the temps dropped fast also, and that had no affect on them...we have had quick warm ups coming out of ice and still nothing...it's been what, 14 years since the last major die-off...hopefully the streak continues!

Was kinda thinking this cold snap would have dropped the water temps faster than last year. If I remember it right last year was colder before we got the deep freeze. But that's good news. With all that great food CJ's gotta be growing some big ones.

Yes, she's growing some big ones....but with the amount of shad spawning, once the Shad fry hit between 1 and 2 inches in late summer it can be VERY TOUGH to get fish to bite.
When Daniel and I went out with Doc the last time, his electronics were full of schools of shad....when Doc threw his castnet out to see the size, they were only 2 inches....perfect eating size for anything...and that was late in the year.
Even though this makes things harder for the fisherman at the end of the year, it helps to get all the Natural baitfish populations built back up by taking ALOT of the Predator pressure off them.
I've heard ALOT more stories of people catching small perch and Shiners, and people netting chubs, suckers, logperch, etc....that IMHO is how you determine the health of a fishery!

That brings up something I've always wondered about. I am not an intelligent fisherman and I've always wondered about "matching the hatch". If you're "matching the hatch" why would a fish bite your bait when the real thing is all around it?
