I can't find the pic, but the largest perch that I have seen come out of CJ was a 11.75 inch one that Crazy4crappie caught in 2012....we at least have a pic of it....it would nice to be able to get a mess of those....but we have to feed a growing Gator population!

It's the only lake around here I have ever seen them in. Was just curious if there were any work trying for. I'm sure they sit in the deeper water. We all know the ones wort keeping are the ones that hide the best. Anyone hear if any good size eyes coming out if the lake this year

In CJ, with a lack of vegetation, they will sit right on the gravel bottom with no cover...that way they can see for a greater distance....perch are terrible swimmers , so they hover right on the bottom, and use their good eyesight to try and not be a meal for Big Cuz!
I have never heard of anyone getting a mess of perch from CJ..... Indian had a nice population until they started stocking saugeye, but they still have some areas to hide!

My best so far is a 25, my buddy got a 25 through the ice...that's the best I've heard so far...my freezer is full of Gators, now it's time for Crappie...whenever it warms!

That what I'm waiting for. I was going to try my luck at Caesars this year untill I saw the dnr has it 13 feet below summer pool to build the marina. That had to hurt the spawn this year.

Went to CJ yesterday afternoon. Started at visitor center but no luck. Others in the area the same. Was disappointed the floating dock wasn't in yet.

Moved to tail water footbridge and caught a number of dinky dinks so moved to spillway. Caught some decent ones but no slabs. Most of the action was deep in the spillway itself, not below the wings.

Heading to Brookville lake this afternoon with a church buddy. Depending on the bite, we might look for a few 'shrooms too.

I caught a few 9-10in perch out at kiser while soaking minnows for crappie 2 years ago.

Cajun Willie was out yesterday at CJ and reported the water temp was 53 degrees in the areas that I fish...he caught a bunch of 9 inchers also in deep water. Slow vertical jigging. It will take some time to get the water warmed up and turned over, before they will head shallow in mass!
I talked to another buddy and he said the Marina crowd is catching aquarium Crappie...the warmest water is still deep, so that's where the most likely chance is "To Grab a Slab"!

Rocky Fork is full of perch, I never target them , never really fished for them so I don't know the specifics on perch. But I catch a lot of them there and this past winter caught several nice ones through the ice.
