Let anyone here know that is interested. Kiser Lake now has a twelve inch minimum size for crappie which I think is great. My friend says they are still hauling in loads of them and most all have been of legal size. He says he thinks they have caught them all.

Went to acton today and caught lots of short fish and quite a few in the 9 to 11 inch range. But the keeper size ones didn't seem very thick and they looked puny to me. Maybe my trip to kentucky lake spoiled me with fat 13 inch average. I don't know either way they just didn't seem big enough.
My friend told me there was a size limit posted on signs at Kiser Lake for a 12 inch minimum on crappie. It must have been for one day only. I went up yesterday and didn't see any signs about it. The bite was slow and all of the crappie I caught last evening were between 10 and 12 inches. They would go up and down too. One moment they were biting at 2 feet deep then not at all until you would set it at a foot or less, then back to 2 feet deep.
The bite is great at Kiser at night, slow during the day. They bite good until about 3:00 am. I've tried most of my jigs and the one that works best is an Arkie Shineee Hineee orange chartreuse. Not sure what weight it is, medium size. I only caught one nine inches all the other sixteen were 10 to 12 inches. If I could keep the pesky catfish and largemouth away I'd have it made. Friday night I caught a 20 inch largemouth. Sunday I caught a 10 pound chanel and I'm sure a chanel broke my line when I wasn't keeping the drag right. It made me lose a Splash Brite bobber. Glad I had a spare. I'm going to go with cheaper slip bobbers and the little cheap lights that you attach to them. Those Splash Brite bobbers are expensive even though the two I bought were on sale for $3.50 each. I think I could probably do good anywhere right now at night for crappie.
Well Saturday at Acton I must of caught 70 but only had 10 keepers, and last year it seemed like I caught every 7 and 8" Crappie in the lake, and thought to myself well next year they will be legal, lol I found that they are still in the pre spawn mode I caught all of them 12 to 16ft down in deep water like 20 to 25ft, and it seemed like the deeper water brought the bigger fish. If I had the time and money I would be fishing in Ky for Crappie but I have to settle for what I have close to home.
I do feel your pain. It takes me a month or so to get acclimated to catching these fish before the Ky Lake effect wears off. I'll take a few weeks off of fishing for turkey season and when I get back to fishing again my brain will be recalibrated to Ohio. It's a long few weeks.
I've been fishing the shallow end of Kiser Lake in about 7 feet of water. Setting my slip bobber a foot or two feet deep. Sometimes I'll set it about 9 inches deep. The gravel pit I fish won't allow night fishing but it has 30 to 40 feet holes but I also fish the shallow area which in spots is about four and a half feet deep, and I consistently catch them at 2 feet on the bobber, jigging. Also I'll be taking off of the crappie fishing for the big bluegills and mushroom hunting. By then I'll be fishing strictly at night for crappie.
Today I bought two packs of the Shineee Hineee's. They are 1/16 ounce. I bought one pack of orange/chart an one just chartreuse. Seems like anything with a little orange on it will work well early then later chartreuse works better. I'm wanting to go late tonight but don't know where to get bait unless the drive through that sells minnows is open. If not I'll just have to go early in the morning.
If you can't get bait just tip your jigs with crappie nibbles. You'll do fine.
