In light of the recent accident just below 43, I am hearing folks say that we need a no wake zone around the bridge. I can assure you that there will be opposition, but with a concentrated effort we may be able to get that done, and I will be glad to work on it, if more folks will help.
I asked Bobby Cleveland to help, because he has strong connections with the folks who run the Rez, but his response was that he didn't think it was necessary just because of this one accident. He had already presented his case to the bass fishermen, who will definitely have a strong lobby, which I also assume will be against anything that makes them slow down through that area...
Bobby stated, to me, that the no wake zone would probably need to be a mile long in every direction, which I felt was probably an effort to discourage me. I am not trying to burn him down here, but we obviously disagree, and I do plan to push for the no wake zone, because I think that area is extremely dangerous, especially when we have a lot of boats moving slowly or anchored near the channel, and others flying by...
If you support this idea, then we need to get organized and move toward a resolution... Please share your thoughts...
