Thread: Are you really iinterested in a no wake zone at the 43 bridge?

Oh really? That is very interesting... Someone has played this hand before...

I love that area but I don't fish there any more,even though it's the closest by far. It's the only place I've ever fished that I would just as soon pay the court cost and associated fines that come with being charged with assault and battery, but yeah it definitely needs to be no wake thru there.

If you are making rollers in a no wake zone you are going too fast

Never fished there but seems to me if they have staffing to police those not abiding by a no wake zone if added, they should be able to police those going too fast and unsafe. Point being, we have speed limit signs but 99% of people speed anyway. Maybe proactively expect the worst from the next guy and plan accordingly. Reality of the world is that a small % makes it harder on the majority.

Only a couple folks around to enforce any such laws. And there is no such thing as a speed limit on these waters. If you can buy the horse power, you can run it wide open throttle. Bunch of bass tourneys launch from near there and don't want to be hindered. I've been at the marina before blast offs and couldn't find a spot to tie my rig up so I could park. The common sense for them to do is all idle away from the marina area out near the bridge and leave in a timely manner from there. They did install and enforce no wake zones up River near certain points. Mostly around boat ramps and the "party" sandbars. This was done after several folks were hurt and killed. Kinda strange how certain points are "off-limits" to restrictive regulations

Only fished Barnett three times during the spring camp last year, that was my biggest issue I saw is the ratio of bass fishermen to crappie fishermen, seen some dummy's running the hairpin channel curves at 60 mph plus at dusk! I know we all gripe about the sport growing so fast and such, but at least when I spot a fella crappie fishermen I can say to myself well there is a person with some good sense, pleasure boaters are a nuisance and bass fishermen are a menace for the most part

I said up front that the bass fishermen would be a strong lobby. We are outnumbered, but we do have a voice. We may not receive a positive response, but saying nothing is not something I would be proud of...

i'll support ya 100%. 300ft each side of the bridge is reasonable.

My opinion only here but it's the approach is wrong. It's not about Bass fisherman,plenty of crappie maniacs fishing in decked out bass rigs, safety and well being of all should be the objective. Respect and concern for the well being of others - when society can't do it, well, thats when the gubment steps in to show us how to treat one another (sure)

I'm not singling out the bass fisherman by any means, but they will be the ones who will fight against changes, I promise... There is no denying that other groups also have folks who need to learn some respect...
