Not sure I would want it back. I would collect the insurance if possible and see who else I could hold liable for the defect / malfunction. Glad no one was injured, that could have went very badly.
Don't tell the EPA! That's nuts, though. Must have been a heck of a ride if it torqued itself off the transom. I've seen a few engineless transoms on Barnett but they were all stump related.
I talked with a guy on the MS river who makes a living using his SI. Whenever a company losses something overboard they hire him to pinpoint it for the divers to collect.
