Get boat level and measure pad to ground. Next trim motor down level (neutral) trim. Measure from center of prop shaft to ground. Subtract measurements. 3 1/2 " is perfect. Most of the time you can only hit this with use of Jackplate.

So do you mean set center of prop shaft three and a half inches above pad of boat ? Or three and a half inches below ?
