Takeum, how many poles you pulling with? You fishing kind of deep in shallow water for this time of year possibly. I can only find them in 12' or less water early in the morning after 10-11am they are out deeper. And don't run all your baits the same depth, try a variety of depths until you find the strike zone. Bandit 300's do better for me on Butla than arkies, dunno why. And it's a lot of work involved besides throwing out cranks and dragging them behind the boat. I started pulling cranks on Butla first week of May and have tried to track there migration accordingly as the temp rises and water drops. I don't spend to much time in any one area, no bites in a half hour we roll and move. When you find em keep on making passes back thru the school. And they school by size, worse day I had pulling cranks this year was 4 keepers with about 30-40 shorts. I didn't locate the big fish. I'm constantly scanning side image looking for bait fish as well as schooling crappie. I make detail notes on everything as well. A hint if you start catching white bass your close, you start catching drum your even closer, you start catching small catfish you just about on top of them, at least from my experience.![]()

Let's hope so armyman, been a few days I was worried about getting skunked, but when you find them, boy do you ever find them. I'm a noob to cranks, but I work hard at it. Worse thing this time of year is having to fold them umbrellas up![]()

I be out there tomorrow, it's been getting tougher to locate 'em, but if lord willing to see fit he let one or two bend my poles.. if no luck, he has already blessed me with many quart bags full of his bounty... I fishing for fun from now on. But I will agree, cranking is the most boring thing ever if them poles ain't bending.. I rather watch grass grow.. Lol
