It taught me way more about locating crappie, their habits, and patterns than I could've ever hoped for. My question is what would you say to the nay sayers who think that trolling isn't fishing?
You say, "You're right, it isn't fishing, and I highly recommend you never start. That way you won't get in my way either." LOL

I would like to add just for the record . This argument "if you will" is a matter of choice .When I started gaining interest in this site I had never done anything but single pole fish .Guess what ? I still single pole fish 90 % of the time . I do enjoy a few trips each year doing other things but to tell you the truth it's the folks doing illegal deeds we should be most concerned with not how our law abiding friends choose to fish .We have many violators that go unpunished and continue to grow a culture of young people that have no concern for the future of any way of fishing . It is my thought that the game/fish dept. will manage the fisheries to protect "ALL" fishing techniques . They will operate the fisheries as it should be or it's all doomed . Let us not split the vote when it comes to enjoying what God has given us .

Tell em you agree and when they Change the law to outlaw it they might as well ban graphite, fiberglass and monofilament while they at it. Only home made hooks, hand cut bamboo and twine from now on. Ps, no more new fangled center fire smokeless powered cartridges neither. Only pointy sticks for deer.

I fish to catch fish, period. I do enjoy single poling but most of the time slo trolling or longlining or pulling cranks is more productive and that's where it is for me. I do enjoy being on the lake and taking in the outdoors but fishing to me is about catching fish and sharing a day with a friend.

I used to catch them year round on a jig pole. Had to work for them during the late summer and late winter months. I have learned more about crappie fishing from single pole jig fishing than any other method there is. I was against trolling at one time not because I care too much about what other people do but my concern was our resource. It seems now the fishery department is aware of certain problems and they are taking steps to prevent them. I spider rig quite abit now on tournament trails and guiding. But most of the time I still single pole when I'm alone. It's my passion and what I really love about crappie fishing. I have nothing against the way anyway fishes as long as we respect our fisheries.

Come on up and let's fish together. I've been seeing you wacking them down in LA. If it catches fish and it's legal I'm all in.
