mine wont either but that's because I own a ranger and have it on transoceanic where too much water moves and causes it to not read well,,,, I only like using it when I'm trolling anyway so I don't run into someone,,,lol

Picked up a new Excel demo at the plant several years ago and went to Bull Shoals walleye fishing for a week straight from the plant. The new rigging guy at the Excel plant had put the steering cable in the helm from the bottom up instead of from the top down. Danged steering cable was too short to do it right, so the rigging guy just made it fit. Excel same day shipped me a new cable but it was a pain fixing it at the lake without my tools.

Even tho I knew to steer the opposite direction after I noticed the mistake, it took forever to get that boat in a tight boat stall, and eventually back on the trailer. Just couldn't get my weak mind to turn it wrong.

It's amazing that it didn't short out the unit. Coulda been a lot worse. It's hard to get that smoke back in em once you let it out. helix issue,,,,,
