    Default Help with crappie

I'm new here also new to crappie fishing. Never cought one never ate one. I can hit arkubutla with a rock. Also close to sardis and Enid witch lake has my best chance at catching crappie right now. I know the water temp is cool. Also am I better off trolling or jigging. I have a great boat for both just can't wait to get on the water and try to catch some fish. Most of my fishing has been stripper tournament and trout. Now I'm trying to find somthing close to home. Any help would be good. Thanks

Sardis or enid are the closest. I live on butla as well but haven't fished it in a couple of years. It should start coming back this year or next.

    Do you have a boat?

"Also am I better off trolling or jigging". This depends on what type of fishing equipment that you have but you should have pretty close to it as you said you trout and stripper fish. If you trolled for stripper then just down size everything like line size, lures, and baits to crappie fish. If you trout fished with a fly rod just use it with longer small lead line and use jig to vertical jig for crappie. Just get started, read, and ask questions here on crappie.com and after you start catching them you will be addicted like all of us.
Be safe and good luck fishing

Well since you have a boat head to sardis or enid get around trees and stumps and brush in shallow water with a jig pole and you should be able to catch some. Start pooling your money and get ready to spider rig after the spawn then you won't look back.

Or, pull cranks!! Sounds like he's halfway set up for it, since he trolls for stripes

We have sea timing and hybrid strippers on Barnett. 2 hours south of yA. Man they are fun. My best on Barnet is 14 pounds. Not a monster but still fun

Size: 58.2 KB I have every typ fishing gear made I believe. Lol. I'm planing to try rigging live minnows and jigging a 1/8 with a 2.5 inch beaver. Just not sure witch lake is best and where to start. I have every size jig all the way up to downriggers lol. I'm just new to crappie and ready to hit the water. So if you see this boat you know I'm on the water. I don't believe you will see one like it in north ms. Again thanks for your help.
