down for COE lakes. From today's newsletter: Black and white crappie had big spawns in 2013 and 2014 on all lakes, but all fish were under the 12 inch minimum length limit. Anglers have had good luck the last few years catching white crappie which averaged about 2 pounds, but their numbers have been reduced by harvest. Weaker spawns in 2010 and 2011 resulted in fewer white crappie from 13 - 15 inches. However, black crappie of that size are plentiful on Sardis and Enid Lakes. These fish have been surviving by hanging around standing timber and brush tops, so anglers will have to give up trolling and use a single jig to catch these fish.

We all knew those spawn years were bad. That's why I didn't agree with the 11" length on Sardis. It culled to many of those fish out.

It just confirms what so many have been saying about the fishing being tough, especially at Nader. Agree totally with you on the Sardis fish length.
So, what do you think should change to help sustain this famous fishery? Should there be a slot limit? Number limit?
This question is for someone wiser than me, which means just about anybody![]()
I've fished Enid alot in the past 15 years, and I don't think there's a whole lot of crappie >12'' in that lake, although I've caught some. Single poleing is the only way. Trolling won't get 'em. My experience with Enid is, catch 10-15, keep 2-3! Somebody may beg to differ with me, though.
