Just put a new tip on it and leave second guide where it is. Won't hurt the action at all. Repaired a bunch like that. But if you feel like moving it just move 1/2 way between tip and next guide.

I have a old All Star GT2 crankin rod that I want to try to repair and need some advise on the best way to go about it.If I remove the second eye and add an end tip the spacing will be off a little. If I cut the rod back to the second eye and remove the second eye and add a tip it would put the spacing rite-on, but I wonder how much action would be lost by removing that extra 2" piece of rod. I have already lost 3"s due to the break.I don't want to turn it into a worm rod!It was originally a 6'6" mdl.Great for crankin!Any feedback would be appreciated.

Have you thought about contacting allstar rods? They have different warranties based on the model, ranging from 1 yr to limited lifetime. It might be worth seeing if you can get a replacement from them.

I was looking at rod repair on the tube and it showed how to remove a eye so to keep from cutting the rod down anymore I'm just gonna remove the second eye and put a new tip on it. The rod is at least 30 yrs. old and I doubt if there would be any warranty.I measured the rod and it is 6'4" so I will only lose the 2"s that broke.Other than the tip the rod is in excellent shape. Good seats and the cork looks brand new. I'll prolly just use it for pulling crappie cranks once I fix it!
