we were talking about which pfd can you use . the inflatable will work any where you are required to have one . Any one in a boat less than 16 ft. must wear one on corps . waters . State says anybody under 12 anywhere ,all the time .

An inflatable vest must be worn at all times to be considered legal. If you remove it at anytime while in a boat, even when the boat is not under way, it is the same as not having a life jacket. This goes for adults as well as children.
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

My inflatable life preservers state on them for persons Over 80 pounds which would not allow many children to wear them. I also think a person must instruct new users on how they operate and what to do if it fails to deploy.

Inflatable pfds are not approved by USCG for children under the age of 16. http://www.uscgboating.org/safety/li...fe_jacket.aspx
