To see if the filter is clean, vacuum it on backwash to see if there is a difference. When you do that though, you'll be losing water out of the pool - so watch it. Second, shut the valve off for the main drain, half the suction is there if you have only one skimmer. Third, check the basket in the pump. If it's split somewhere, you might have trash in the impeller of the pump. A leak in the skimmer to the pump would mean a loss of water in your pool, which should be noticeable minus the amount due to evaporation. Had a pool 20+ years ago in another house, never again! Did everything myself. Let us know if you need help.
By the way, your backyard is very nice.

Backyard looks beautiful DD. Don't fret it man, anything nice and worth having is gonna cost a little green and a lot of elbow grease, would love to have a backyard that nice.

Thanks man. Those taller trees are beautiful BUT the roots have gone through and knocked off some of the flagstone. I have ALOT of flagstone I have to put back down. I already pressure washed it to get the old morter off it, now I'm gonna use a liquid nail type stuff for putting pavers and stone to nail it back down. Course I'll have to grout it all after that. Just alot to do.

Checked it all. I vacuum to waste to get more suction. The bottom drain is jacked up to. Some Idget decided that cute little cedar tree didn't need to get cut down about 20 years ago. It's about 40 feet tall now and I think the roots have gotten into the plumbing. That's the next big thing I have to do. Drain the pool and get that bottom drain fixed.
