I'll grab some more shots of the new electronics when I go back on watch tomorrow. Just put in 2 new Furuno radar units and a gps/ depth/ chart plotter/ radar combo. Funny story the other day, we were discharging crude oil at Valero's New Orleans terminal which takes about 18 hours. As I was standing by on the bridge I watched 2 bald eagles fishing in the slack water around the terminal. As we fired up the mains to prepare for our departure, they landed on my inside barge to eat. Since they are protected species I couldn't send my crew out to untie our tow. After about an hour they flew off leaving 6 fat crappie on the bow! It was 40 degrees with a 48 degree water temp and they were catching them of the surface!

Sounds like a neat job. I was an engineer on Norfolk Southern railroad. Like your job, you never knew what you were going to see next.

I have gotten pretty good at both since I retired. Got lots of experience running coffee pot in engine rooms over the years on ships. Cooper Bessemer 2000 HP, Fairbanks Morris opposed piston 1750 HP, 8-268 and 8-278 Detroits and a couple of Wakashaw's. Along with some smaller Cats and KT's. Wish I had went straight to the boats when I got out.
Thanks for the post's and pictures.
