    more like Logs than sandbars LOL We did just fine when I was a teenager with a 12 foot john boat and a couple paddles. TM is just to help an old man out. LOL

    My biggest problem is going slow enough. How much thrust did the ole Johnson/ evinrude motors put out? Not much more than 30 and they were the thing on 18 ft glass boats in the day.
    Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
    The sheep live in fear of the wolf but in the end it's the shepherd that eats them.
    The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang and
    a gun the goes bang when it is supposed to go click.

    30lb is plenty plus you said that it has a 9 1/2 hp johnson thats plenty for creek jumping and sloughs fishing.

    Finding parts for the old Johnson may be a probem dunno

    Don get the 30. I have a 32 I used for a long time on that 16ft alumacraft bass I used to fish out of. Slow speed is on lower motor is what you need. On high still got plenty of power with that little boat. Main thing is getting a good battery.
