Thread: No more bucket dragging

Bought the boat a 1976 6hp evinrude for a kicker/trolling motor.
Found it on craigslist this morning. The guy wanted 275.00 for it I negotiated him down to 200.00. It has the original owners manual and comes with a brand new 3gal gas can and line plus a qt of quick silver. He said it spent 15 years on his grandads attic.

I called my outboard mechanic friend about it. He went put a compression gauge to it. Both cylinders are even at 125psi. It is now at his shop getting new points, plugs, and condenser.

With his fee for inspection and pickup plus new parts I will have a little less than 300.00 into it. Next will be a connection to the steering control and splice the gasline to feed it.
