That's funny. About three years ago when the little white bass and largemouth were so plentiful At butla, I would keep those little bass and fillet them and freeze them in packs of five fillets for my buck. Mom could thaw out a pack and cook it with tater tots in no time for lunch for him. They were awesome.

I have not. But if someone said it is awesome I would take the time and think about it the next time I caught one. I have caught many running lines at night. I have eaten gar, buffalo and drum.

They are good if you know how to prepare them. Don't soak them in water, and slice in small pieces.

If I am fishing for em I dont mind em, hate catching em while I am crappie fishing tho. Ifn you enjoy em eat em, not much better than the belly meat on a flathead just dont fish for em any more.

I've been on the river and have caught some good size cats, (catch, photo, release).
I have been at Sardis spillway from first light til dark, keeping every cat that was caught. We would have a big family fish fry and I would get sick everytime.
I can eat a couple of small pieces, but no more. The doctor did some test, I have a reaction with catfish oil. That's why I don't care to keep them. If I catch one, it's given away when I get to shore.
Now you know why I say to catfish.

If you know how to trim up the meat on the blues and flatheads they are better than store bought fish any day. A lot of folks like channel cats but they are not fit to eat in my opinion. Lots of oil in the meat, it's almost stained yellow coming from these lakes and rivers. The good thing about a good mess of catfish is that they will feed a lot of people.
