Rings probably lost tension or are stuck........ probably rebuild time You could try adding a quart of Marvels Mystery oil to it and putting some ring free in the gas and running it and see if it gets better but more than likely its rebuild time.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

System Restore and Marvel mystery oil. Drain oil first, change filter and oil, fill back up. Look for metal in oil pan! Put a magnet in drain pan and swirl it around. Take it out and see just how bad it looks. How many miles on motor?Sounds like a build to me!Check around for cheap motor on Craigs or E-Bay! Definately screw a compression guage into each cylinder and compare to factory numbers! Is it a 6 or 8 cylinder? If the truck is worth all that, a good long block and all your accsesories put back on may be cheaper if you don't have the tools for a build yourself! Just my!Am I mistaken or did you have a Jeep motor blow up a while back? Sorry if I'm Mistaken. The old memory ain't what it used to be!
