Great questions/comment. I've often wondered about this but always seem to forget to ask until I'm on the water.

I run two 6's in center , two 12's and two 16's on outside with line counter reels. I let the fish tell me on amount of line out. Usually start with 75 , 100 and 125 ft.

Rees guide, earlier I mentioned my 4'10" rods. Mine are completely different. They are cabelas rods about120 bucks each!! Don't make them any more. At that price I can see why. However when I waded the st. Francis river and caught 100-140 spotted bass a day they couldn't be beat. Best rod to handle the combo of shallow water wading and lots of low branches to get under. Big rods were harder to get where the bass lived. Asked Cotton Cordell why the rod builders didn't make them (he made a sweet 5'2" for a while) and he said" Son, it's a computer world. When the computer says it sells at whatever percentage and another at a higher level they quit the lower seller." Not that many folks wading. So I got 2 little rods and put shimano bantam reels on. Still got them but have gotten too old to wade. Knees won't allow it.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Same here Major. Works better for me with the setup on my boat. I have side rails on mine I mount my holders on. Then with my Bimini too, just works better on my case.
