Whether mine have been just greased mine or not I touch the hubs to check for heat when I get to the ramp or stop at the store or get to the house, if they are getting hot not good. Its become a habit and has saved me some headaches.

Spent fourty seven years ont he family farm. Greased so many bearing in my lifetime that I thought I might turn into an alemite. Was always carefull, informed, and diligent. Still...... I can not count the number of disk bearings, wheel bearings, cotton picker bearings, do-all bearings, bush hog bearings, etc., etc., etc.,....... Never was it either stupidity or negligence, but it still happened. Probably should not judge this guy either, may have been pure old-fashioned bad luck.
Still, I think I might go check the bearings on my boat today between rainstorms!!!
changed the bearings and seals in my trailer, both sides, two weeks later on a short run to the lake smelt something funny when I got to the parking lot, seems I had blown a back seal, to much grease maybe, anyway stopped at the station, the convience store, and side of the road, eased home, all was fine, redone the right side, having told you that I shall tell you this, I am not stupid, or or negliant. pffffffff
My two cents from a life on the farm. Spend the extra money and buy an American brand. If you let someone else do it make sure the races match the bearings. One half a degree if angle off and it won't last long. Pack your bearings and install. Drive for a few miles slowly before you grease the hub. Then it should take the grease without blowing the deal. Just my thoughts
New bearings can fail quickly too. We never know around here.
Search my posts...you'll find mostly positive. Your perspective is skewed because you vandalized a mans trotline...came on here to brag about it...and then got publicly chastised by a long list of users. Only you can change your attitude...you still strike me as a bitter person.
I certainly agree with all who have posted that even new bearings can fail. However...for all of those who have had one fail...did your wheel fall off? Or did you catch it prior to that? I know a lot of folks who have had them fail...but they caught it and corrected it before they had a catastrophic equipment failure. That was my point.
Have had studs break and a wheel run off, spindle brake and wheel come off, and an axle break at the spring looking a wheel. None of the three I don't think I could have ptevented. Things happen and if you don't pay attention to your vehicle and trailer it can get ugly quick.
