The single pole guys just want more fish on the beds, so they blame the trollers for catching to many pre spawn fish. Pffffft. We all contribute to the Pressure the MDWFP is worried about!!!!! I'm glad someone is looking out for the resource!!!! As some say, just deal with it!!!!! Some states have a two pole limit, course they don't have the fish we are lucky to have. We are blessed with the best crappie fishing in the World right here at our back doors. Lets all stop beaching, and Enjoy it!!!!

I stated that single pole fisherman ruin the spawn just to show the same ignorance they do in saying trollers are to blame for all FISH problems. I personally don't care how anyone fishes but it is very evident lots of single pole fishermen hate trollers.

Sammy, let me clear it up for you. Are you taking about the spring MCC tournament? If so team Big Meat hauled ALL those fish to Shoney's after the tournament and dumped them on the cashier who had requested a FEW fish. I saw it.

I'd forgot who said it, but in the past I've heard that before about the single pole guys ruining the spawn. Maybe it also was an analogy.

I don't know why they think we trollers hurt the resource any more than they do. Maybe its because trollers catch more fish year round, even during the spawn. Jealousy always raises its head in debates about single pole vs trolling!!!!! It's really a shame for us crappie fishermen to divide ourselves instead stand up as a single group!!!! The minority always gains power by dividing the majority!!!!

ATM if you can gitter changed back to 5 poles after the fact then I will gladly pose for ya but NOT in a blue kini. Your going to have to talk to Speck about that. I'll keep my extra two poles handi just in case.

Would it have made any difference if the trollers had known that the pole limits were what was really on the block. Rest assured, the 70 odd old single polers wouldn't have a place to sit for all the trollers. You can't really respond to something you don't know is going to happen.

I don't post much on here anymore but I think something needs to be said and I'll probably get blasted for it but here goes. In the interest of full disclosure, let me start by saying I don't live on one of the trophy lakes. I live in Memphis, I'm retired and I fish butla, sardis and enid one or two days a week. I spider-rig with five poles and I sometimes catch a limit of crappie. I keep what I catch, fill the freezer and give away a lot of filets to people who can't fish....elderly, etc. in Memphis. I don't post pictures and rarely post on here about the fish biting. I really don't like to fish on the lakes when 100-200 boats are out there. I'm getting older and I really don't like fighting the crowds anymore.

Two recent events come to mind as we talk about the dilemma we're in with the pole limit issue. I'm concerned that 2013 will be the last year that we will be able to fish 5 poles on the Big 4. I hope that I am wrong.

First event: Sardis was hammered two winters ago and I was right in the middle of the hammering. We talked about the lake being on fire and before long you could walk from boat to boat at Lespeedeza. This lasted for about two months and many of us caught more big slabs than we could count. We caught easy limits day in and day out and we eventially caught most of the keepers out of the lake. The folks who live on sardis went for over a year not being able to catch more than a handful of keepers even those who know the lake and fish it daily. They bought 10-12 dozen minnows and caught 60-80 fish per day with about 3-5 keepers. We all remember this and most of us (including me) avoided the lake.

Second event: We hammered butla last year in May/June and again in September with almost 100 boats on that lake for couple of weeks in May/June and again for about 3-4 weeks in September/October. We went from 6-10 boats a day on butla with all of us catching easy limits in early september to not being able to find a parking place at Dub Patton or at Bayou Point when crappie professor started posting pictures of his catches there in september as he introduced himself to the crappie.com community. Probably the only thing that saved butla was the fact that lots of keepers started showing up at sardis in late august/early september and we moved to sardis. We enjoyed a great fall and early winter at sardis with lots of relatively easy limits until the lake muddied up in mid December.

Some people like picture posting and some don't like it. People can do what they like; it's a free country. But let's face it, we talk about catching fish on this board, we post pictures and the crowds of boats come. The lake gets hammered, we catch the fish and we move on to the next lake. The people who own property on the lakes and live on them don't like us cleaning out their lakes and they're organizing to try to stop us. We better get organized or like ATM said...we'll all be fishing with one pole next year if we keep silent. The locals know that most of us will not drive all the way to their lakes if we have to fish with one pole and I believe that they are very serious about trying to stop us.

Let's not get to arguing among ourselves on why we got into this perdictament. Stan warned us that we better come to the meetings and we didn't come. I'm guilty as charged. We probably could have avoided all this if we had gotten mobilized an showed up en mass like the local single-polers did but that's water under the bridge at this point. John is doing a great job getting this effort mobilized and let's all get behind him and support this effort. Our spider-rig trolling future on the Big 4 is at stake, I believe.

I'm done speaking my mind. Hope I don't get everyone all stirred up with this post but if I do, I apologize beforehand.

Wow are you serious. This is a crappie fishing forum. You are trying to bash a member for posting pics of fish that he caught. Heck. Wish this weather would clear up so the moods would get better when folks get back to fishing.
