Sardis changes

We didn't want to go to expense of traveling to Sardis and buying $20 worth of minnows for 5 keepers. That all changed in August when the keepers started showing up in good numbers at Sardis and all of us switched to fishing Sardis because the limits were easier to come by there. As you know we all caught limits almost every time we went to Sardis from then through late December when Sardis muddied up with all the rain. Arkabutla got hammered pretty hard from May thru July with 50+ boats on it lots of days (a lot of pressure for butla since it was so small during that time). It's true that butla was producing good fish and was easier to fish cause it got so small with the low water but the vast majority of people who were fishing butla were only catching 5-10 keepers. They kept on fishing butla because they had no other good options. It's obvious that the hoards of boats from Memphis will go where they can catch fish. Most of the guys I know follow the crappie.com board to find out where the fish are biting although most of them don't post on here. Those who don't catch a lot of fish will probably love the new regs at Sardis. Believe me when I say that there are quite a few guys who have learned how to fish butla since Lakeview closed. I'm predicting that most of them won't drive all the way to Sardis for 15 fish when they can fish closer to home at butla and have a shot at 20 bigger fish. I hear all the stuff about butla being tough to fish, but there are lots of guys from Memphis, Hernando, Southaven, etc. that know how to fish that lake and I still believe that this new law may cause butla to get hammered more than it normally does because of the economics involved here.....less expensive travel to butla and quality fish there in good numbers if you know how to fish the lake. The fact remains that there are a bunch of people who can catch limits of quality fish at either lake quite frequently. I'd rather have some of them harvesting their 50 fish out of Sardis instead of butla since Sardis is much larger and contains a lot more fish. With the new regs, I imagine that more of the good fishermen will concentrate on butla instead of sardis. That's my concern with the new proposed regs for Sardis. Hope I'm wrong but butla has already got a lot more pressure since Lakeview closed and Horseshoe hasn't been producing for the spider-riggers. I just hope the new regs don't backfire on us and cause butla to get hurt. I love that lake and the big fish that come out of it. It's getting enough pressure already and I believe this may hurt it badly. Hope I'm wrong about this. My two cents.....
2 cents worth by butt!!! That's at least a dollars worth right there. :-)
