I've seen lots of plumbing fixtures stained with rust, or caked with calcium, would certainly agree with nothing but distilled unless it was an emergency and planned to replace the battery any way.

Yep and it builds up even faster on lead plates......when it sluffs or scales of and falls to the bottom it fiinally will connect the plates together and then you have a dead cell.

I know I am fixxen to get hammered but here goes. In the golf cart world when something like this happens with batts no older than yours Handi they just stick a new in and go foward, carts pull WAY more amps than we are pulling with the Terovas and these Batts are a different grade.
With that said, if you decide to sell them I would be interested in one of them, the older one would be fine with me and you could sell the new one for new. Let me know.

The cart batteries are 31's. I still think they're the best ones out there. One bad anything ain't changing my mind. If ya want cheaper batteries, then get them, but the cart battery's are still the stuff. Way cheaper than the Optima's, and the Trojans, and they have a bad one every once in awhile also. Hey, chit happens!!!!!

I would be interested in buying both if you decide to go a different route. I need to replace the 2 that was stolen last year at the house. I was thinking about going with golf cart batteries.

I'm going to give the cart batteries another try. Going to buy another new one to go with the one being replaced and sell my other one that is in the boat now to a buddy here in town. Only be out about a $125 that way and have 2 brand new ones with an 18 month warranty.
