No real need in any of the lakes round here for 6 lb test. Waters always stained so they cant see it.

I went to 12lb CXX copolymer for stiffness like ScottV said. Stayed broke off with lighter line.

Will probably go ahead n switch to 10lb next time I tie, but I wlda thought if it was the line, ATM wld be havin issues as well. But with my luck...it's probably just my line.

Barbie I can't prove this in any way but I have had some break like that and when you look at the line and it will be frayed. I assumed that when fish bit it came up and rolled, line gets on gill plate and when you jerk it cuts it.

I use 10 lb cajun red for main line and 6#flurocarbon on my drops!I've hung cats up to 5#'s with no trouble!Bass up to 3 #'s!Sometime a spool of line just from weather and uv exposure will get brittle.Cut about a 2 ft. piece, put on some gloves, wrap a couple twist around your hands and pull outward in opposite directions quickly. If the line breaks easy get rid of it and get some new. It should stretch then pull back!
