I am a bachelor and I bought a 75 quart because I can.

We use it mostly for trips where we are going to be gone for a few days or we're going to need a lot of ice. Part of what makes these work is to eliminate a good amount of air space. Keeping that in mind, I would use a 45 more, but I bought this one for long trips and such. A 45 quart is next on the list.

When we get back from those trips, the cooler is usually still 2/3 or more full of ice, so I'll drag it over to the living room and use it as a beer cooler until the ice runs out. That can sometimes take a week inside.

Another great use for it is a second fridge during Thanksgiving and Christmas and such. A couple of frozen 2 liters and a defrosting turkey will keep the cooler plenty cool enough for casseroles and such. I guess it also makes the eyesore of a giant beer cooler in the middle of the living room bearable because she doesn't really get on to me about it.

The biggest drawback is the weight. Sucker is heavy.
