China is emerging and with that labor cost will go up. With the price of fuel shipping costs are outragous. We should have a mass exodus in China with manufacturing jobs coming back to the US.

Price of fuel doesn't really have an effect on the situation most companies use a freight forwarder in witch case a fully loaded 40' container can go hong kong to Memphis for right around $1500.
Now the labor cost very well can have an effect but that will depend on a few things like the fact even if they have to pay the say wages there as here they don't have to offer health care or anything, also what the customs duty rate is on the products they are importing.
Some stuff is free to import.
If the fish aren't bitting just remember your not at work ! :D

They are made in the USA and also China both.....The China ones are the ones with the cheap wood handles that WalMart sells......They still make the USA ones but they cost a lot more.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

If you notice everything we buy for fishing has gone up this year and it is directly related to the cost of fuel. It takes a lot of of fuel to move one of those container ships from china to here and there are no fuel subadies for those guys like trucking. Their cost of labor is going up because the people's standard of living has gone up and the are demanding more just like us. Their government is facing the same thing ours is they don't have the income to keep paying substadies to jeep their prices down. Jobs are going to come home. Just not fast enough.
