Do it in a heart a beat! Most crappie in Mississippi I know prefer a "full" meal. Kinda like DonDon when he gets WB on the hook for lunch.

On the oxbow I fish, there are TONS of 3" shad schooling everywhere. I was thinking of getting a cast net and avoiding the pain of the little bait shop that sells very low counts and doesn't open till ten some days. Would these be too big? I would think the "match the natural food" technique may work. Any thoughts?

The only problem you'll have is keeping them alive. Shad die quickly unless the are in a round container of some kind.
