No! You need a round or oval tank with a constant circulation of water. A bubbler wont keep em alive
    Stick yo jig in there!

Definitely need a round bucket with a good aerator and some sort of additive to the water helps a little, I use one called U2. They wont live in the livewell. I think they just stress out, the water will get bubbly on the top and once that happens they are done. I've been told that means the ammonia levels are too high, thay basically pee and poop themselves to death When that happens, just go catch some more and change the water. The other downside to using shad is that you and your rods will be covered in scales. They do work great though!

You have to keep them in a tank without corners with a constant circulating supply of water. Their scales get knocked off easy and they suffocate if you don't keep the water constantly coming in to your tank. Also it's a good idea to purge them before putting them in your bait tank.

My nephew has a bait tank on his boat for keeping shad alive. It's roughly half of a 55 gallon plastic barrel. 2 pumps, 1 to pump water in and 1 to pump water out.

The striper fishermen use a big oval bait well designed for shad. They are aerated, AND filtered.
