Thread: The epic HDS install is complete

Finished it up last night.

1) Removed old electonics.

2) Swapped B sized Ram to D sized for the front - On account of Yikess making fun of me.

3) Mounted front power

4) Decided to go with the US/2 Transducer since the HDS transducer cable could not be run through the keyway of my Terrova. Really noodled on this and really wanted to use the HDS transducer, but in the end, for simplicity and clean install went with the US/2. Gonna try this out for a while and may go back an install the HDS transducer and leave the wire loose like in a Power Drive install.

5) Snaked the Ethernet cable back to the LSS-1 mounting area. If you're gonna install stuff on boats, it's really handy to have a fishtape.

6) Mounted 2D transducer to the hull above the pad. I have a flasher with shoot through transducer for running high speed so didn't really have to worry about loosing signal at speed and mounted this way it protects the transducer as much as possible from running over something. Now, backing over something is another matter...



7) Next was the Down Scan ducer. Decided to stick with the same mount system as I had the 997 - jackplate. Basically, on the bottom of the motor mount I have a sacrificial anode that bolts on with two bolts and I mounted a piece of alunimum angle to use as the mounting surface for the ducer untilizing the bracket that came with the unit. It's a two piece metal unit that has adjustable angle with a plate that bolts to the transducer itself.









8) Next was to secure the wiring and use the boot to go into the boat and forward to the console and LSS mounting spot inside the starboard rod locker. May not be able to tell from the pics, but I gave the cables a liberal coating of electrical tape on the potential friction spots.






9) Next was the LSS-1 mount which you saw in progress yesterday.



Well, I didn't mention the Power Bubbles. Gets old replacing the batteries in my hush bubbles, so I decided to give the power bubbles a try while I was snaking everything. I mounted the unit here and fed power from the console and installed a switch. One air line goes forward and comes out on the starboard side about where my rod holder is mounted. Sorry, didn't snap a pic. But basically there is an old fish finder cable cover there and the line comes out at that point and has slack and can be fed back in keeping it out of the way, but has enough line that I could run it back to the console. The other line comes out about where the gear shifter is. Normally when I trailer minnows, the bucket sits in the floor between the consoles so I can throw the second line in it. When I'm on the lake, for short moves, I set it in fron the console and can use either line in the bucket. Plus, if need be, I can throw the stone in the livewell if I'm fishing a tournament where the fish need to be alive and cut down on the fresh water intake.
