ES, if that link to the manual is correct for your motor and you in fact are turning 5800, then you've got too little prop. Rule of thumb is 1" for every 200 rpms. Sumpn aint right. And turning 5800 on a motor designed for 4725-5250 is cause for a kablooie. Check that first. And double check it.
In addition, if you are underpropped and turning 5800 at WOT, I'll bet you're turning north of 6 grand coming out of the hole. Pistons, connector rods and top bearings don't come cheap.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
Oh yes I do CN ...Just thinking......possibility that Pops boat has a worn prop hub and its slipping just enought to give a high rpm reading and slipping the prop enough that you cannot get out of the hole and on plane good. It may just be time to have a new hub pressed into that prop.

Call JR's Marine in Brandon and ask JR or his son what you need. Get away from them yankee gewber machanics.
Good thinking G. You ain't near as ignernt as that secret poll we took while you were out would indicate. Only hitch is, if it was slipping that bad, he should have easily heard it over revving coming up on plane. The boy is long on questions and short on answers, but I don't really mind. Makes for an enjoyable time making sport of him.

If the rpm limits that were posted are correct......the prop hub wouldn't have to slip but a little..... a 550 rpm difference on a two stroke would not be that noticable ( they sound like a mad bumble bee anyhow)......old motor, old prop......that could be it. But, he really needs to go to a prop shop and find out.....it does not cost just to ask them questions ya know. See what their thoughts are and go from there.
