    Default Pop's Prop

SS that is on it= 48-16930A40-20P (Quicksilver Laser 2)
Original Prop (beat up) = 48-77348A40L-21P (aluminum)

5800 RPM but doesn't want to plane off. Can anybody interpret these #'s?

You've got 21" pitch and a 20" prop, which off the top of my head, sounds about right. 5800 sounds about right assuming you've got a range of up to 6K rmps - need to find out. Trouble is, I'd guess 20" in max on that big and heavy of a boat with a 115, but rpms sound about right. My guess is that your motor is either way too low in the water or way too high.

89' Marriner[/QUOT You are trying to come out of the hole with the motor trimmed down......right? If not try that and do not start trimming up untill you are on plane
    .
Looks like your SS prop is a 20 pitch and your aluminum one is a 21 pitch. They nornally go down a size in pitch when switching from aluminum to SS because the SS will not flex like the aluminum.....looks like they did this. If you are turning 5800rpm running a 20 pitch prop and having trouble planeing out you probably should go to a 19 pitch. I am assuming that your dia. is 13 inch. On my 115 yammy the reccommended top rpm range was 5000-6000. My G3 with the 115 ran 5500 with a 13X22 ss prop.....my 90 yammy is running 5500 with a 13X19 ss prop. I was advised at the boat shop to try and hit the middle of the rpm range and thats what I did. Your best bet is to go to a boat shop or prop shop where they will make a reccomendation on what to try first and if that dosen't work they will exchange props with you untill you get it right.

Your rpm's are dear on. And the 20 prop should not be the issue. I, like WB (can't believe I'm said that) am thinking motor placement

Don't worry Tman, it gets easier to admit I'm right the more you do it.

Come to think of it....it ought to feel quite natural for you by now.

Wannabe is right ES....as wide as your boat is you need less pitch.......but your turning 5800 now and less pitch is going to bring those rpms up a little higher so you need to see what Mariner reccomendations are for the max rpm's on your motor. .......I have a feeling that a 19 will do the job for ya. Still best to.... Check with a boat shop or prop shop and see if they do not agree
