The bow will go up...I had that happen on my Basstracker ....I was going down the highway and looked in the mirror and my bow was about 6 ft. above the top of my tailgate on my truck. Some more speed and it might have flipped on over.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Pete Ponds that fishes on the BASS Elite series only straps the bow of his boat. Will not strap the back down. He had an accident several years ago and he said that if the back of the boat had been unhooked, he would have lost the boat and not totaled out his truck and trailer.

My next door neighbor used to not strap the back of his boat down.........his boat was in the shop the other day on account of that......aluminum boat bottoms on boats not strapped down.....the skids on the trailer beat the boat bottom untill it finally cracked it on both sides. He pulls it down snug now with transom tie downs.

Really? I bet that got your attention. In my case though I don't think you and me, rip and Spec could lift the front of my yankee boat. That dude is heavy but I still connect my seatbelt looking strap on the bow anyway. Never had one of those break before.

Never had one break going down the highway, but had the winchstrap break while snugging down the bow!!!!!

Yikess.....the last two new boats that I have bought the G-3 and the Sea Ark....both of them had a pretty heavy chain mounted on the trailer....it hooks into the bow eye....for a safety chain in case the winch strap breaks. Both these trailers came from the factory that way....its really a better idea than the strap. the chain is not tight......has about 6 inches of slack in it.

Our last three or four have had those, too. Use 'em, too!
