You do have insurance don't you? Insurance is for gewbers that screw up, like you and tman. They don't have insurance for exspired lisence. Like "G" said, get things fixed right and then turn it into the good hands people.

I have had 2 skegs welded back on and never a problem with messing up seals. I have also used Ed's for the past 10 years and have been pleased with everything they have done. Shoot me a PM if you need a GREAT mechanic that works out of his home in Olive Branch. He is about half the price of the dealerships and is very good.
Going to call the insurance company tomorrow and see what's up

I know what I would do, I would break out two big hammers and work the aluminum skeg till the boat went straight and not pull and then use the other tab to fine tune it.
I would pull the prop off and check the shaft and make sure it wasn't bent, you can put an indicator on it and turn it slowly and see if it's bent.
I would also do as suggested and check the fluid in the foot and then run it and let it sit in the water for a while and then check it to make sure no water is getting in it.
If all of that was good then I would call it good, work the skeg over last and call it good.
If any of the other things didn't check out then take it to the Marina for an estimate.
It's CRAPPIE season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gonna be out a couple hundred for having the hole tig welded anyway. Might as well cough up the other $300 and let some pros take care of it. dangit

Hey Gewber. Ifn it makes you feel any better, ive hit stuff with mine purty hard and ain't done no internal damage. As we speak, my cavitation plate has a chunk missing from the front side and my skeg is prolly 1/8" shorter than it's supposed to be. Still no internal damage.
I can check the run out in the prop shaft fer ya with my handy dandy precision dial indicator ifn you'll drag it to Caledonia and buy supper at the local messican joint. I'll even attempt to straighten it fer ya fer free. If I break it, oh well, you needed it fixed any how. How hard did it hit or did it jus slide off the trailer and the weight of the boat bend it? If the latter is the case, I'd bet you ain't hurt nuthin. Jus my two cents werth. Now get to headin east. I can do it tomorrow night around 8:30. Messican joint stays open til 9:00
Just a couple things on Ed's.....The work he did on my prop was fine, my problem was the amount of time he kept it and the fact that he kept giving me dates that it would be ready and then I would call or show up and he would give me another date. I think it was finally ready about the fourth time I showed up to pick it up, probably had the thing for close to two months just to fix a bent prop. And the part about his help being sketchy came straight from his mouth quoted to me by my boss who has known him since high school. Also, the guy who owns Ed's now is not Ed, I'm not sure when he bought the business but he is not the original owner.
The guy in Germantown whose number I posted in the mechanics thread comes highly recommended, though I have never personally done business with him and i am not sure if he does skeg work or just props.
I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.
