I used the same lady 2 times when mom and dad passed. She did a tag sell and we made more than we ever thought we would. She charged 20 percent. Auctions are good for one person --- the buyer. People are looking for bargins and auctioneers won't push for a good price. Estate sales usually price things a little higher than normal and then have a 1/2 price sell the last day. I go to estate sells all the time and when I do, I look for unsual, weird things.

People who hold estate sells can give you a guesstimate of what things will sell far. Then will tell you that they work for 20% or XXX$$, whichever is higher. They do all the pricing, advertising, selling and should clean up the house when they leave. Look in the yellow pages under "Estate Sales".

Thanks, CH.... I assume that she put a specific price on each item? If the item didn't sell, what then? Were negotiations allowed on tagged prices? I assume the sale was held at your parents' home? Or?
