We headed north up Hwy 8, nobody told me that Carver's Point was where we wanted to go. So we drove past our turn and went another 10 or so miles until we figured out we had screwed up. So we turned around in the middle of the hwy and went back. We finally found the landing and with the Crappie Masters going on, it was full. We looked on the map and decided we'd go to Choctaw landing. After about 10 miles of rough road we got there. We launched the boat and parked the truck 1/4 mile up the road. We caught 3 keepers and decided we'd leave so we could make the weigh in for the tourney. After finally getting the boat loaded we were going back up the rough road and I noticed my trailer wheel wobbling in the mirror. I had broken the outside bearing and the hub and wheel came off. I jacked it up, finished removing the wheel, and went to try to find parts. Steve stayed and guarded the boat. Luckily, I found a trailer dealership and got the two bearings, grease seal and dust cap. I now know how to pack and install bearings. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Scott.....I always carry a brand new hub with me complete with new bearings, races, and seal....pregreased and ready to go. And for a back up....I also carry two complete sets of new bearings, races, and seals, grease, and neccessary tools. I traded the guy at the boat place all of this that I had for the G3 trailer for new stuff to fit the trailer on my new boat. I also carry a spare tire and some tire plugs and tools to install and a 12 volt air compressor.

I think I've learned my lesson and will carry spare parts with me from now own. Now that I know how all that stuff works. LOL

I told WB to come by the fish camp on wheels and I'd fry him some Okatibbee crappie.

Thanks Sat, I will too from now on. I hope to never have that helpless feeling again. I got lucky this time to be able to find parts.

Sorry you had a bad luck day after that drive up there. At least that wheel stayed together on the way up there and nobody got hurt. Stay safe the next couple of days and then go find the big ones!
