For example, both batteries were checked and topped off PRIOR to plugging in the charger for the first time. After about a week of being plugged in, I checked both batteries and had to add almost a half gallon of distilled water between the two batteries. The users manual says that my charger is a charger, conditioner, and maintainer. It can be left plugged in for up to a month at a time. After a month they recommend unplugging it and checking the batteries water level, adjusting if necessary, and plugging back in. If I did that, I would have two batteries that were boiled dry.
As a lead acid battery discharges and cools the water level will go down. Always charge battery to full capacity then check water level after it has cooled. I would suggest the next time you run them down, charge overnight and if you have access to a meter check and seen what your charge rate is. by then they should be charge and in the maintain mode. Also feel your batterys. if 1 is warmer than the other you could have a bad cell causing then charger to stay on all the time thus boiling out the water. Had mine for 5 years and never a problem with overcharge or charge time. 2 bank 5 amp.
