fixin to purchase one and was just wondering should i go with 10 amp per bank or get the 15.Would there be any difference other than charge time?

I previously had a Dual Pro 6 amps per bank and it did a good job for me. I just bought a MinnKota three bank with 10 amps per bank to put in my new boat.

Bigger is better. It's like your troller and OB. The charge time is the difference but you never know when you may need it charged in a hurry.

I just put a ProSport 8 on my jon boat. Can't give it a good or bad review just yet, but it seems like I have to really keep an eye on the water levels in my batteries. For example, both batteries were checked and topped off PRIOR to plugging in the charger for the first time. After about a week of being plugged in, I checked both batteries and had to add almost a half gallon of distilled water between the two batteries. The users manual says that my charger is a charger, conditioner, and maintainer. It can be left plugged in for up to a month at a time. After a month they recommend unplugging it and checking the batteries water level, adjusting if necessary, and plugging back in. If I did that, I would have two batteries that were boiled dry.

When I first got into this crappie fishing everything was new to me including charging and maintaining batteries. The first thing I did was to over-fill my batteries, acid ate through my tin boat. Hope that's not what you're doing. Just thought I'd throw that out there, maybe help somebody.

I've got a minnkota 2 bank 10amp/each bank on board charger. Never had a problem and I've left my charger on all winter with little water evaporation. These chargers are a little more expensive than others, but I think they're worth it..Thumbs Up

As a lead acid battery discharges and cools the water level will go down. Always charge battery to full capacity then check water level after it has cooled. I would suggest the next time you run them down, charge overnight and if you have access to a meter check and seen what your charge rate is. by then they should be charge and in the maintain mode. Also feel your batterys. if 1 is warmer than the other you could have a bad cell causing then charger to stay on all the time thus boiling out the water. Had mine for 5 years and never a problem with overcharge or charge time. 2 bank 5 amp.

The new digital MK's give a stronger charge in 3-4 hours. As Yikes said, bigger is better. Go with the MK 345D. Your batteries will give you better service and last longer.
