    Default Boat umbrellas

I rigged up some umbrellas for the boat. I bought two cheap 64 inch dia, golf umbrellas and some inch and a half pvc pipe and fittings. The seat post goes through the pvc mount and it can be swung to any position around the seat. The can be easily put up and taken down.

Be sure to drill a hole in the pipe and put a set screw in to hold the umbrella handle tight. The wind will take that big umbrella for a quick ride if you dont have it tightend down. And those umbrellas sink really fast too. Take my word for it.

They do catch a lot of wind. I almost turned into Mary Poppins last weekend in the wind when I was trying to take down the umbrella.

Got tired of chasing them and buying new ones so i saved up and bought this one. I've been using it for all of 4 years now with no trouble and very little maintenance on it. Mind you, it's not cheap and definately not for everybody, but if you can afford it, it's the best out there next to having a full bimini top on your boat. I even use it in the rain too. Also i can adjust it to where the wind cant catch it and blow me around. Got another one for the back of the boat last year.

I did drill a hole through the pipe and the umbrella handle and have some pins to go in them. The umbrellas are the vented type so that should help as well.

You guys would whip me on the FJ, this is my first year of fishing for crappie other than single poling the spawn but I have been doing better than Wannabe's norm. I watched the weigh in at butla and was thinking of coming down to watch this one and meet a few more of you guys. Won't know if I will be able to until tomorrow night.

All I'm doing when I can get away for a FJ is DONATING. The important thing is visiting with the folks that you talk to here every day, that's special. This will be my fourth FJ and I'll be officially retired in another ten days so I also plan the fish the Grand Finale at Grenada.
