The only thing wrong with that last answer would be if the 788 has an internal gps, this could throw the ole boy off by 20 ft or so because his ducer would be 16ft behind his gps and with the 2'-4' leadway of the gps this would equal 18'-20' off. He would be fishing by a bouy marker he threw out that just barley is within sight of the structure he thought he was fishing. So with all this being said, this answer you provided really is just poo too. Now this aint an argument and I aint disputing you and your wealth of knowledge. Course if it has an external gps puck then refer to WB's last answer. His WOULD NOT be poo, if you mount your puck close to your ducer.
The 788 has internal GPS. Now, if I had both, 788 & 998 right now, which would I mount where?

788 up front, 998 at console. Period.

I beg to differ. That all depends, do you want the big screen up front or in the back? If you put big screen up front, you gonna have to either install 2 ducers one on trollin motor and one on the transom or you could just install one on the trollin motor, but you would have to leave trollin motor in the water all the way from the ramp to where ever it is you want to fish. That is if you want your side imagining to work. Check back later for discription of where to stick the gps puck for the 998. I gotta think about how I'm gonna word that.

788 up front and 998 on console.
    Dang it boy.

What would make you say that minner?

Anybody catch the hds vs si thread over on the electronics board? The one referencing BBC? Just ehen I though the hbird low thing was settled in my mind, they pull me back in.

Cp is going to do a side by side comparrison essay over there pretty soon. Should make for a lively discussion.

Default Does the Down Imager work while you're not moving or just slightly moving?

I know you need to be moving at atleast a couple MPH using the SI but what about the DI? Could you use it up front like a regular FF?

Dd with all the rain we been having I haven't been on the water since the upgrade so I can't answer your question. I would imagine you would have to be movin if it works like the si. Does the ducer shoot a cone when in di or is it shooting the layers like the si? Guess that would be the difference in movin or not.
