I don't think having a quick disconnect for the PD/Terrova on one side and the Maxxum on the other is a bad idea. They are both flat so the one not being used wouldn't be in the way. You could also mount the PD plate on the top of a second Maxxum plate and use the single Maxxum base.
You really need to try a terrova in the trees before you make a $1,400 decision. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with it because I primarily fish open type of water and get in the trees on occasion. The Terrova foot pedal works fine unless you are the type that likes to stomp your foot pedal to see how fast it can change direction. If you keep your boat under control most of the time and can weave in and out of the trees then the PD/terrova would work just fine. Plenty of us have them if you want an on water demo to try it for yourself.
