With the price of Oil jumping at record rates before Katrina struck, the USA is in for the biggest test of it's people since the Great Depression. Katrina has devestated not only what was in her path, but will completely change the economic status of the Country. The fact that fuel alone has risen so drastically since Katrina came through will only increase the cost of everything straight across the board. The only thing that will not increase is wages. I feel that crime will become much more prolific in the near future.
It sickens me that some will try to blame this on the Bush administration. The only thing we can hope for as Americans is that they can get more refineries online a.s.a.p. without having enviromentalists slowing things down. We are going to experience a fuel shortage, and until we can boost production back up, it's not going to get any better.
There is not a country in the world as strong as the US, but, our generation has yet to be "tested" through really hard times. Our parents and grand parents made sure that our lives would be better than theirs were. I would venture to say that alot of Americans have grown lazy, and expect things to be handed to them. Then there are times like this, when you see reports of everyday people stepping up to do what they can to help.
The people of the US are being tested right now, and it will take some time to smooth things out. There will be a record number of bankruptcies and foreclosures as well.
With Gods help, things will be OK, after all, it is his will anyway. We are all here just visiting.
I could ramble on for quite some time, but, I think I should check my ammunition supply. If it gets bad enough economically, we might just wake up some morning soon and discover complete and total anarchy across the US.
