Southern Cross is about the only CSN tune in my collection, thanks for posting that one!
Covers or versions; often times it's whichever one you heard first that becomes the benchmark. But occasionally, someone else's version of a tune just sounds better to our ears. For example, there was a radio playing on a jobsite we were working on (not my radio!) playing some station with a lot of today's female pop singers. "All about that bass" by Megan Trainor was identified and played and I didn't care for it at all. It popped up on YT not too long after so I tried to watch it and just couldn't stomach it.
At some point later on, Kate Davis covered it with a jazz theme with a different tempo and it was a much better listen to my ears. Small drum kit, piano and Kate on the upright bass and singing the vocals. I still pull it up every so often and it's on my Ipod.
Zepplin; was a big fan in the late 70's and early 80's of their popular radio plays, not so much for the entire albums and album cuts. Favorites there would be the Immigrant Song and Kashmir. Particularly like the Page and Plant cut with the Egyptian Orchestra alongside of the me, about a 12 minute play.

I don't know what genre of music this falls under but I like 'em!

I never knew that Prince did this tune as well; I really don't care for any of his music and for me, The DeRailers version is da bomb!

This guy has been a whirlwind the last couple years. A wild success story, I hope he carries on with. An 8 year military vet if that matters to you.
Not one of his biggest hits, but one of many I really like.
