I listen to a wide variety of stuff, from Adele to ZZ Top but much of it is not the popular names most of us are familiar with. I lean heavily toward vocalists rather than the bands themselves, such as Raul Malo for example. Lots of his solo stuff on YT showcase his talents, rather than as the front man for the Mavericks.
Lots of good music in movie soundtracks, too. I've bought CD's of movie scores or soundtracks before ever seeing them, such as "Gladiator" featuring Russel Crowe. Browsing through the music at the old Border's store, where you could sample the tracks off the disc before buying it was wonderful back before the internet and YT.
Most any movie I watch, I'm usually listening intently to the score to see if it moves me in some way.
