It's sad that your older friend thinks the whole world should kiss his rear end. We have all probably known such people. My theory is they always look better in my rear-view mirror.

I had a similar situation a couple of decades ago with a guy who would buddy up to fishermen to find all their best spots then he would take ALL HIS FRIENDS to those spots like he was the brilliant fisherman who was so smart to find such spots. He would then be upset if the person who showed him the spot showed up to fish it. Such "friends" are not worthy of our time. Some times it just takes time to weed them out.
