Update on the support structure. I ended up using 2" pvc pipe and fittings. Sorry no pictures. Got it done yesterday, end of day, rushed for time. Quick visual idea of my design.
The ridge pole is in two lengths. Short piece is about 3' and runs from the bow to the back edge of the bow seat, then a 22.5 degree elbow, the rest runs to the back of the boat and stops just short of the engine. I put 3 four-way fittings in the ridge pole run. The 1st four-way is on top of the bow seat, it has 1' pieces going towards the gunwale. I guess it simulates a walk through windshield. Then I split the ridge pole from the bow seat to the aft deck in 3 section. Added a 2 four-ways in that section, each has 2' pieces going toward the gunwales. At the end of the ridge pole, over the aft deck, I put a tee. Each leg off the tee is 2' and runs to a 90 degree elbow. The elbows point to the aft deck and have a 1' piece and hold the ridge pole up. I had to glue all the four-ways to add strength. otherwise the pvc would fall out of the fitting under load. Its function for now and will have to do this winter.
Still looking for other ideas that will work and be transportable. Current configuration isn't portable. It'll be a while before I can get pictures.
