I do, but I wouldn't let him wear one of my hats.

I remember mine, and all that followed, too. I've always had beagles (except for just a few years when I tried basset hounds instead). I also remember all the good hunts and how bad it hurt when they went "home" without me.

I've had everything from Border Collies to Dobermans. Some of the most loyal dogs I've ever had were smiling Dobermans. All were the greatest dogs with kids as they
stayed with the little children that were not old enough to play baseball in my hay field. Parents loved them too. Loyal and protective of children and my wife. Fond
memories of every dog we have ever owned. Have had a couple of Lab Doberman mixed that were so hyper I couldn't keep up with them. Wore me out. Super playful
and loyal almost to a fault. I went through obedience training with two of the Dobermans and it was a test of wills, but I won. The most unbelievable hurt when you
lose them. Sometimes I want another one, but retirement is so full of going and traveling and it would not be fair to a puppy. I'll always have my memories.

I remember my first dog/puppy, not the breed as I was only 4 or 5. It got pneumonia, and died soon thereafter. First dog I do remember was a full bloodedbeagle, named Snoopy, and gave birth to pups under a big pine tree at the corner of our driveway. Someone stole her a few months later since she had a come from a man known for breeding good rabbit dogs. On my 2nd boxer now, a great family dog, very protective of the family, and is my shadow the majority of the time.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Funny you should mention your dog being stolen. My first one was, too. I was still young-maybe 6 or so, and when we came home one day he was gone. The neighbors told Dad that they saw someone take him but thought it must be OK since it was in the middle of the day. We did not even have a car back then, just Dad's old gravel truck, and he must have put several hundred miles on it driving around searching for Jingo. The local butcher had given him to me somehow suspecting that I would have a lifetime affection for the little guys

I'm a Doberman fan, myself. I'm pretty sure they are just one chromosome from being human. We got him to take care of my girls when I wasn't around and performs that feat flawlessly. We also have a 14 week old Brittany that is a cross between a mongoose and wolverine, but she will calm down to be one of the sweetest dogs.

I remember every dog I've ever had. I remember my first dog, I was in 5th grade. It was a rainy cool day when I came home. Found ol Beans laying in my bedroom floor. He had gone home. It just killed me.
